Joe's Blawg

Nothin' special here. Just ordinary "blawg" conversation from a typical college student striving to glorify Christ with every minute of his life.

Reactions to my last post

I just want to say thanks to those who were mature enough to laugh about my last post, rather than to be offended by it. Those who dish out the same kind of insults to President Clinton, Gore, and Kerry should at least be able to take them back when comments are made about less-Christian leaders like Bush and Cheney. Most people were mature enough to laugh about it, and they set a fine example for the Republican party and have shown me that there are many mature Republicans out there, and perhaps restored a bit of my faith in that party. However, there was one or two disgruntled people (not people who commented on the post, but others who said something to me in private) who set a bad example for their party, by trying to make me feel horrible for the pictures I posted, and for that I will tack on a few extra days to leaving my new profile picture up.

If the Republicans just had better economy strategies, better ideas for big-business growth, more efficient environmental plans, and weren't war-hungry, they'd be the perfect party. If its McCain or any other decent candidate (eg. anyone not associated with Bush in any way) in 2008 versus Hillary Clinton, the Republicans can count on my support. ;)

God bless yall,
Joe

Joe, I just want to say one thing. Make your political jokes, both sides do it, no prob there, and you're right, if we want to give it, we should be able to take it (although I wish we would be less ready to argue about those things, and more ready to strive together for principals that we all agree on as Christians and those that would benefit the country I know we all love), but I wish all of you kids would consider this. I would never, and I can safely say, no other of the kids out there in our circle of aquaintance, would ever consider it humourous to put up a picture of (for example)Clinton holding a newborn baby and jamming scissors into the back of it's skull (partial birth abortion, which he supported in practice at least, if I recall correctly) while grinning, and surrounded by dead babies around his feet. You may think this is a little extreme. But think about it. If Cheney had actually killed that man, it would not have been funny, at least, I hope no one would find it so. Come on, why is it funny to have a picture supposedly depicting him having shot a bunch of kids? Are we laughing at this? Does that make us "mature"?
I doubt Cheney brushed that accident off. I sure wouldn't.
Don't think I'm over reacting to a small deal, I realize that picture is not meant to be profound or anything, but I wish we could all sit back and see ourselves (and I include myself in this), slurring, mocking, degrading, bashing, and making slang, the government of this country. Oh I know it's all around us. The media is rampant. Do you think anyone would have known about that shooting accident if it had been some one other than our Republican VP? I think not. Why must we stoop to the worlds standards? We are christians. Right wing or left, Republican or Democrat, we are to be living examples of Christ in our words, attitudes, actions and opinions.
I pray that our generation can rise above the petty, ridiculous, and un-patriotic standards, practices and attitudes that we see ruling the mind of our country these days.
Everybody go read a biography on George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and Patrick Henry, then shut up.
I love all you folks, and God Bless America.

multifarious- I see your point and I first want to address that picture of Clinton you described. That wasnt exactly the image I was talking about. I was particularly referring to the whole Monica Lewinski scandle, which I heard plenty of perverted jokes about back in HS (remember I went to a public school). This particular Dick Cheney photo doesnt show something as cruel as him actually shooting one of the kids and seeing the [well insert disgusting stuff here...]. Nonetheless, like you said it was a bit crude, and perhaps I have been getting quite out of hand with posting these pictures. While I personally could never find myself to respect Bush or Cheney and the terrible, corrupted job they have done to ruin everything Clinton so nobely gave to this country, I should not allow the immature, and gross misinterpretation of the Democratic party that I have seen on other blogs to cause me to fire back like this.

Its always been perfectly fine with me for people to post their anti-liberal stuff, after all yall are all adults and have your own minds and opinions, but why am I not allowed to have my own mind and opinion too? What makes it wrong for me and not for them is that they cannot take the same kind of insults they dish out, they have been convinced that there is nothing moral, or even the least bit spiritual, about the Democratic party, which is absolutely bogus!!

Granted as I said in the first paragraph its immature to fire back no matter what they're doing, this stuff still gets on my nerves after awhile, and just sitting back and letting people trash the Democratic party with untrue and mistaken words about their party, is something I can only do for so long.

Anyway, concluding this excessively lengthened post, I'd like to say you made a very good point by what you said multifarious. It is something I'll reread a few times and strongly consider the words of. Hopefully you'll do the same for mine. Thank you for your comments on my blog, I hope they'll continue even when I post non-controversial material.

God bless,
Joe

Not to argue anything here, but I would just like to say that despite my conservative bent, I find that picture of Dick Cheney hysterical. The Bush one is a little dated, but I laughed pretty hard at Cheney.
