You can rag the Bears for all I care. I couldnt care less about the Bears and wanted the Saints to beat them because I'm a big Saints fan. I was only cheering for them because I wanted Peyton to lose because he didnt deserve this Super Bowl. Its really disheartening to see my dream of Peyton being the next Dan Marino go down the drain.

WHY? Why do you have it out for Payton?

1- he supported and donated to Bob Corker for U.S. Senate

2- he went to UT

(ok, I realize after the first two, i still have not eliminated all of my friends that might perhaps also fit in both 1 & 2)...

3- his commercials are annoying and unfunny.

4- (the colts, in general) I have never liked the Colts, ever since they left Baltimore overnight in 1987. It was a childish and immature way to up-and-leave a city.

5- As someone who's always been an underdog fan, I get sick and tired of the "everybody loves Peyton" junk.

So what are the reasons to like this guy over any of the other players for the bears or any other team?

Let's see why I like Payton or the Colts...

1) He played for UT.
2) He isn't like most pro athelets and into every drug/poor behavior choice on the planet. AKA, if you have to have a sports role model, he ain't bad.

As for the colts, what's not to love about Tony?

all 5 of those reasons are dumb. thats all i have to say.

1- he supported and donated to Bob Corker for U.S. Senate.

Joe it does seem like everything comes down to politics for you. What the heck? If Shane Battier votes for Hilary Clinton in 2008 he will still be my favorite NBA player. because of his skill and ability to play basketball. he could be liberal moron and i will still like him as a basketball player. who cares who peyton supported for the SENATE! THIS IS FOOTBALL!

2- he went to UT

dont look now, but HE DOESNT PLAY FOR UT ANYMORE, HE PLAYS FOR THE INDINAPOLIS COLTS! UT is stone age, bro...

3- his commercials are annoying and unfunny.

this opinion is obviously marred by your preconception of Peyton. Even if his commercial won commercial of the year, you would probably still say it was annoying and unfunny. besides. ok, so maybe he cant act, what does this have to do with him as a football player.

4- (the colts, in general) I have never liked the Colts, ever since they left Baltimore overnight in 1987. It was a childish and immature way to up-and-leave a city.

ok you have something against the team. i will go with that. so far that is 1-for-4

5- As someone who's always been an underdog fan, I get sick and tired of the "everybody loves Peyton" junk.

why not be a fan of a great player? you can be for the underdog, but you dont have to give beef to the people that like cheering for somebody that entertains them because he has a great skill. who said everybody loves peyton. i know for a fact that is way overstating it. well, for example. YOU dont like peyton manning.

ok i'm done.

Dani, thanks for the tips, I'll keep those in mind.

Andrew, your generalization of my first 3 reasons assumes that I should judge my interest in a football player solely for what he does on the field. (if this were the case, then Dennis Rodman would have been one of my favorite NBA players, as Ben Wallace is now)

So my reasons are petty, but they are no more petty than any reason for Peyton Manning, from what I can see and have been presented. It just so happens I am a fan of a great, talented player in the NFL: Drew Brees. Brees is not only an amazingly talented player, but a good guy off the field, and very well-spoken. I would also say I am a fan of Michael Vick except that he is growing dimmer and dimmer in my book with his off-field legal troubles, his on-field actions (flipping the bird at Atlanta fans, which gave him a $10k fine), and even his play is starting to become very inconsistent, a sad reality for my life-long favorite NFL team, the Falcons.
